What are the general meetings?

The general meeting consists of a lecture on a fiber related topic given by local as well as nationally acclaimed artists,  preceeded by a short business meeting.  A list of the programs being offered this year can be found here.

 

May I attend general meetings without being a Member?

Yes, you may attend as a Visitor.

 

When and where are the general meetings?

The general meetings take place on the second Monday of the month from September through May, with no meeting in January.  The meetings are held at the Portage Senior Center and start at 7 pm.  Doors open at 6:30 pm.

 

May I take a workshop without being a member?

Yes, however your fees will be more than if you were a member. Generally, it will be cheaper to join the Guild and join the workshop as a member.

 

What are the advantages of being a member?

As a member, you can join study groups, rent spinning and weaving equipment, borrow books from the library, apply for scholarships, request a mentor,. and pay lower fees for workshops.

 

What are study groups? 

Study groups are member run groups that meet monthly to advance their knowledge and skills in the fiber arts.

Do you need to be a member to participate in the WAFA Sale?

Yes.  Membership dues need to be received by the Treasurer no later than September 30th.   In addition, in order to participate in the Sale, the member must be an active member, volunteering no less than 4 hours/year in Guild activities.  The 4 hours can be volunteered assisting with the Sale.
