Kingscott Gallery and the Portage
District Library Exhibits
This fall the Weaver’s Guild of
Kalamazoo will present to the community two exhibits
celebrating our 40th Anniversary.
Our first exhibit will be part of
the Kalamazoo Art Hop at the Kingscott Gallery,
October 3 to 28, 2008. Kingscott
Gallery is located at Kingscott Associates, Inc. at

reception will be held Oct 3, 2008
from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Our second exhibit will be at the
Portage District Library from Oct. 15 to Dec 8, 2008.
The Library is located at
Thursday, 9:00 to 9:00, Friday 9:00 to 6:00, Saturday 9:00
to 5:00 and Sunday 1:00 to
5:00. The reception will be held
Oct. 19, 2008 form 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
We would like all present and past
Guild members to participate in our exhibits. This is
not a juried show or a sale, but an
opportunity for the Guild to present fiber arts in two
different venues. We ask that each
member select one item they would like to exhibit
and bring it to the September 8,
2008 Guild meeting at the
contact Nancy Thornton at
269-721-9867 or thornton179@msn.com for other
arrangements. The item must be
accompanied by the entry form filled out and be
ready for displaying. There will be labels identifying each artist and work.
The Kingscott’s
exhibit will be a general overview of the Guild’s fiber arts, while the
Portage District Library’s will be a historical view of the
Guild over our 40 years of
existence. Because we are
exhibiting at 2 different venues, our exhibition committee
will have the responsibility of
assigning placement of each item to create the best
display. We will post on our
website where each item is and the pickup dates and times
at the locations. Insurance in not
offered by the Guild or the locations, but all possible
precautions will be taken.
Our Guild has been an important
part of the fiber arts here in
this is a great opportunity to show
our work. Please join us in our celebration by
entering an item for our exhibits.

The plans for our 40th birthday
party and members fashion show are beginning. We will be having
lunch and the fashion show on March
28, 2009 at Brook Lodge in
by our current and former members shown to the party attendees. It is our goal to have as many
members and former members attend
the luncheon as possible. The guild has had 480 members since it was started.
A committee has been established
with the following members:
June Vaughan, Terri Feldt, cochairs;
Nancy Frost,
Thornton, Nancy Clark, Gail Ross,
Cathy McCarthy, and Anne Mehring.
We will be announcing the plans as
soon as possible. Please check in the August Shuttle for
more details about our party.
Our guild members have been
expressing great enthusiasm for this event. We will be meeting as a
committee in the near future to
begin our work.
